Green Lung Sunset Loop: 7 Stops, 12 km

Bang Kachao's raised jungle paths, a botanical garden, the weekend floating market, and two bridges that hold the last of the light over the river.

Afternoon loop7 stops12 km between stopsBest from 15:00

Bang Kachao is a peninsula of mangrove and coconut inside the river's biggest bend, twenty minutes from Sathorn and nothing like it. The paths are raised concrete a metre wide, so ride them slowly and give way to bicycles. Come out over Lat Pho and finish on the bridges while the sun is still on the water.

Open this loop on the Bangkok map. Distances are straight-line between stops, so a real ride through Bangkok traffic will read longer on the odometer.

  1. Wat Pariwat Ratchasongkram TempleStart

The famous “David Beckham Temple.” Traditional Buddhist decoration contains bizarre modern/pop-culture figures. Pikachu, superheroes, Beckham, etc. It has become more famous recently

  2. Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market Hidden gem4.4 km from the last stop

The market itself is not the hidden part - the hidden part is leaving it. The small roads around it lead to coconut gardens, canals, wooden houses, garden cafés and plantations.

  3. Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden Viewpoint2.1 km from the last stop
  4. Bang Kachao Viewpoint150 m from the last stop

Don't just rent a bicycle and follow the obvious loop.

    Bang Kachao, Bangkok
  5. Lat Pho Park Hidden gem4.6 km from the last stop

Fascinating for the Chao Phraya flood-control engineering associated with King Bhumibol - a peaceful riverside park of enormous scale. Combine with Bang Kachao.

  6. Lat Pho Canal Scenic Point Sunset spot250 m from the last stop

Lat Pho Canal scenic point - green Bangkok.
